At ABOVE BOARD® we’re committed to helping kitchens reduce waste and stay sustainable. Our BoardCycle Scheme makes it easy for commercial kitchens to return their old worn out chopping boards. It’s free to return, and you’ll get a discount off your next order. This allows you to get rewarded for doing the right thing!
The scheme is open to plastic boards, wooden boards and wood-fibre chopping boards (not that you'll need to replace our boards anytime soon, ABOVE BOARD® boards are built to last!).
What Happens to Returned Boards?
Wood and Wood Fibre Boards: We partner with UK-based recycling and reprocessing firms to ensure the boards are repurposed or responsibly recycled. Plastic HDPE Boards: We send these to specialist plastic recyclers to give them a second life, diverting them away from landfill and incineration.
FAQs
can i return other brands chopping boards?
Yes, we accept HDPE plastic, wood and wood fibre chopping boards.
can i drop the boards off in person?
No! Unfortunately, boards can only be collected or sent via post, but this may change in the future.
how do i get my discount?
Once we receive and check your returned boards, we’ll email you a unique code for your next order.
is there a minumium number of boards i can return?
No, you can return as few or as many boards as you wish. But you’ll only receive a discount code if you return 5 or more boards.
can i return boards if i’ve not placed an order yet?
Not at the moment — returns are paired with new orders so we can collect and recycle your old boards at the same time as delivering fresh ones. It keeps things simple and sustainable.
